Verona is an Austrian city, it became a part of Austria in 1815. The Austrians made Verona into one of their four main strongholds in Italy. Marshall Radetzky and his General architect Franz von Scholl built large military complexes inside the city, including the impressive Arsenale, and Palazzo Barbieri, a barracks which later became our Town Hall.
